A Premier Vending UK customer replaces an obsolete fresh-food machine
A manufacturing site in King's Lynn, a customer of Premier Vending UK Ltd, was running a Crane fresh-food vending machine that had become obsolete and broke down frequently. It was replaced with a smart vending cooler, changing the staff experience from product codes and service calls to simply opening a fridge door.
A Premier Vending UK Ltd customer in King's Lynn replaced an obsolete, breakdown-prone Crane fresh-food vending machine with a smart vending cooler. Staff now present a card, the door unlocks, and they select the item they want.

An ageing machine on a working site
The customer of Premier Vending UK Ltd operates a manufacturing site in King's Lynn — the same part of Norfolk we are based in. Fresh food and drinks for staff were provided by a Crane fresh-food vending machine which had reached the end of its useful life.
The recurring problem was reliability. The machine was obsolete and suffered frequent breakdowns, which on a shift-based manufacturing site means staff arriving at a machine that cannot serve them and somebody chasing a service visit rather than doing their own job.
A smart cooler in its place
The obsolete machine was replaced with a smart vending cooler. Rather than a keypad, a spiral and a delivery chute, staff use a refrigerated cabinet with a glass door and pick products up by hand — which also widens what the site can offer, because items no longer have to survive a drop.
- 01Present card
A member of staff presents their contactless card or mobile wallet at the reader.
- 02Door unlocks
The cabinet unlocks and they open the door to the chilled shelves.
- 03Select item
They take the item they want; the transaction completes automatically.
What made it the right fit
- Simpler mechanically than a spiral-based fresh-food machine
- A three-step journey staff pick up without instruction
- Fresh food merchandised on open shelves rather than through a chute
- Fully cashless, so no cash handling on a manufacturing site
- Serves shifts outside normal office hours
- Supported locally from our King's Lynn base
We have kept this account to what the site actually did. We do not publish invented uplift percentages or manufactured testimonials — if you would like to discuss a similar replacement, we are happy to talk you through the practical detail directly.
